Obituary for Maurice LeBlanc

1930-2019
Maurice LeBlanc, passed away peacefully at the K.E. Spencer Memorial Home on March 6, 2019, at the age of 88. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Sylvaire LeBlanc and Iva Bourgeois.

Maurice is survived by his wife of 60 years, Yvonne, and his sister Madeleine Dionne (Charles). He was predeceased by his sisters Charlotte and Therese. He is survived by his children: Nicole (Robert), Monique Smalley, Andre, all of Moncton; and Mitch (Rebecca) of Halifax; eight grandchildren, Caroline, Zachary, Samuel, Julia, Daniele, Julie, Luc and William; three great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Maurice will be remembered as a well-loved father, educator and musician who touched many lives and who will be missed by all who knew him. He loved spending summers with his family at his cottage in Shediac Bridge, enjoyed sailing and also loved to travel. During his lifetime, music and community involvement were his passions. He played clarinet and piano in several bands, as well as sang and directed choirs.

He spent his career supporting French language education in the Moncton area. He obtained his Masters in Education from the Université de Moncton and retired as vice-principal of Mathieu-Martin High School in 1989.

Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, NB, on March 22, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home, on March 23, 2019 at 10:00 am. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.

If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences available at www.fairavenmemorial.ca

Maurice LeBlanc est décédé paisiblement au foyer K.E. Spencer Memorial le 6 mars 2019, à l'âge de 88 ans. Né à Moncton, il était le fils de feu Sylvaire LeBlanc et de feu Iva Bourgeois.

Maurice laisse dans le deuil son épouse de 60 ans Yvonne, et sa soeur Madeleine Dionne (Charles). Il a été précédé par ses soeurs Charlotte et Thérèse. Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Nicole (Robert), Monique Smalley, André, tous de Moncton; et Michel (Rebecca) d'Halifax; huit petits-enfants, Caroline, Zachary, Samuel, Julia, Daniele, Julie, Luc et William; trois arrière-petits-enfants ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.

On se souviendra de Maurice comme un père, un éducateur et un musicien bien aimé qui a marqué de nombreuses vies et qui manquera à tous ceux qui l'ont connu. Il aimait passer les étés avec sa famille dans son chalet a Shediac et adorait faire de la voile et voyager. Au cours de sa vie, la musique et la participation à la communauté étaient ses passions. Il a joué de la clarinette et du piano dans plusieurs groupes, ainsi que chanté et dirigé des chorales.

Il a passé sa carrière à soutenir l'éducation dans la langue française dans la région de Moncton. Il a obtenu sa maîtrise en éducation de l'Université de Moncton et a pris sa retraite en tant que directeur adjoint de l'école secondaire Mathieu-Martin en 1989.

Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Fair Haven, 1177, chemin Salisbury, Moncton (N.-B.) le 22 mars 2019 de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h. Un service commémoratif aura lieu à la Maison funéraire Chapel of Fair Haven, le 23 mars 2019 à 10h00. L'inhumation se fera dans les jardins commémoratifs de Fair Haven.
