Obituary for Mary Fearon

Sigrid Mary Juanita Fearon died in the early morning hours of May 16, 2019 at Campbellton Regional Hospital.

She leaves behind four much–loved sons, Delaney (Julie Comeau–Lavigne), Gavin (Jolene Antle), Morgan, and Jesse (Stephanie); siblings, Albert Arseneault (Virginia), Ruth Arseneault, and Fred Arseneault; aunts, Stella Donahue and Patsy Guitard; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Jean (Gallant) Arseneault.

Mary spent nearly her whole life in Dalhousie, NB, having been born there in 1952. Dalhousie, its landscape and its people, were her home and she loved them. She worked first at The Dalhousie News and at the mental health facility in Campbellton, then later in numerous capacities as cook, bartender, cashier, cleaner, seamstress, sometimes working two or three jobs at a time. She was a talented creator whose handwork was of outstanding quality, whether it was knit, crocheted, or sewn. Although she would not have recognized her own intelligence, she could do absolutely anything she put her mind to.

Mary had the tenderest of hearts and the most invincible of wills. Small children and animals were drawn to her, recognizing a person who valued and respected each being’s spirit. She could be a warrior, fighting fiercely against injustice, particularly if she saw someone else being mistreated or ignored. She was outspoken and witty, a strong woman who knew no other way than to be fully herself wherever she was.

As per Mary's wishes there will be no funeral. Her sons invite family and friends to attend a celebration of life for Mary at the St. John's United Church, Dalhousie, NB on Monday, May 20th from 12 noon to 2pm. Arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point. www.macmillansfuneralhome.ca
