Obituary for Theresa Elizabeth Martz

Sister Theresa Elizabeth Martz (Sr. M. Geraldina), daughter of the late John Henry and Eleanor (Engel) Martz, died peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. She was born at Duhamel, Alberta, and on January 6, 1942, along with her two sisters, Margaret and Angelina, she entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception.

Following her Novitiate and receiving her Teachers’ License, she began her teaching ministry in Digby, NS, and Johnville, Saint John, St. Stephen and Moncton, NB. After moving to Vancouver, Sister Theresa taught at two schools, one in Vancouver and another in Surrey, BC.

After Sister Theresa retired from teaching, she volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society in Saint John for several years and was involved in Religious Education in parishes in Saint John.

She was predeceased by her parents, John Henry & Eleanor Martz and her brother, Ronald Elmer Martz.

She is survived by her two sisters, Sister Margaret Martz and Sister Angelina Martz, both residing at Ruth Ross Residence.

Visitation on Sunday, June 9 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Ruth Ross Residence (105 Burpee Avenue) with Evening Vigil at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 10 at 10 am, Carmel Chapel. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Saint John, NB.
