Obituary for George Slater

George E. Slater, 92, of Lakeview Manor, Riverview, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Born in Edgetts Landing, he was the son of the late George and Myrtle (Wilson) Slater.

George was a Buyer for the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. and worked in the construction industry. He enjoyed the outdoors, his camp at Penobsquis, watching TV and keeping up with politics. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

George will be sadly missed by his wife of 72 years, Letitia “Tish” (Jardine) Slater of Moncton; daughter, Debra Sherwood (Richard) of Moncton; grandchildren, Amanda Taylor (Troy), Ashley Sherwood, Scott Slater, Joey Slater, Jon Slater, Jeff Russell, Rod Russell (April), Darren Slater (Barb) and Kristy Smith (Shane); great-grandchildren, Avery, Ryan, Jayden, Keegan, Robyn, Katherine, Charlotte and Alden; sister, June LeLievre of Ottawa, ON; daughters-in-law, Sherry Slater and Dina Slater; son-in-law, John Russell; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, William “Bill” and Glenn; daughter, Barbara Russell; brother, Gerald and sister, Evelyn Rogers.

Public Graveside Service will be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Ron Kammermann officiating. Arrangements under the professional care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).

In memory of George, donations to the Greater Moncton SPCA or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Online condolences for the family may be shared at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
