Obituary for Doris Lingley

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Doris (Whittaker) (Edwards) Lingley announces her passing on October 15, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Wife of Allan C. Lingley and the late Cecil T. Edwards (1992). Born in Sand Brook, NB on April 28, 1933, she was the eldest daughter of the late George and Eva (Sinnott) Whittaker.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. A member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, FHBC Missionary Society, and also River Valley Seniors. She loved to cook, sew, knit, quilt, and do search word puzzles. She made many bridesmaid and prom dresses and wedding cakes when she was able. She also worked for 27 years until retirement for Dominion Stores/Superstore.

Survived by her loving husband, Allan; and her children: Sandra (Delbert) Getson, Cheryl (Raymond) Broome, Terrance (June) Edwards, and Peggy (Tim) Allaby; two step-daughters, Cynthia (Kevin) Boudreau and Sandra (Brian) Golding; grandchildren: Bryan (Tanya) Getson, Krista (Jason) Blakney, Keith (Sarah) Broome, Lisa (Chris) Fudge, Ryan (Kaylie) Broome, Craig (Krista) Edwards, Scott Edwards, Kal (Katelin Ramsay) Edwards, Brett (Samantha) Edwards, Adam (Amber) Allaby, William (Melissa) Allaby, David (Tyneil Kerr) Allaby, Mikaela Boudreau, Braedon Boudreau, Riley Golding, and Sophie Lingley; and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vesta (the late Walter) Bailey and Madelene (Jim) Moore; brothers: Reginald (Geraldine) Whittaker, Winston (Agnes) Whittaker, and Paul Whittaker; sisters-in-law: Nikki (Gerry) Lindsay, Mary Lou McKay, Jackie Whittaker, and Lynn Goguen; and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents; husband, Cecil; and brothers: Addison, David, and Bryan Whittaker.

The family wants to thank the kind and compassionate care Doris received over the last eight weeks from the nurses and doctors of 4B North and ICU.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 2 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held from Forest Hills Baptist Church on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 11 am. Interment at Patterson United Cemetery, Hoyt, NB.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, MS Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
