Obituary for Robin Dugdale

Sadly, the family of Robin Dugdale announce his passing on Saturday, October 26, at the University of Alberta Hospital from complications of surgery. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, December 25th, 1958, he was the son of the late Ursula Joan (Babs) and Herbert Dugdale.

Robin is survived by his wife of 17 years, Linda N. (nee Nadeau), his dog, LouLou and siblings Linda Hong (Ben), Susan Rose, Julie Jack, Nancy Dugdale, and Brent Dugdale (Tracy). Nieces and nephews are Benjamin and Emily Hong, Roger and Tammy Sanders, Elisha Boyle and Megan Jack, Vanessa, Dean and Tommy-Lee Boily, and Morgan, Paige, and Lauren Dugdale.

Robin was raised in East Saint John, attending Glen Falls Elementary and Forest Hills Jr High Schools. He graduated from the general academic and business program at Simonds High School in 1977 where he played football with the Simonds Seabees. Later he played hockey and minor baseball while working at Wacky Wheatleys selling home electronics in Saint John and Fredericton. Eventually, he decided on a career in long haul truck driving which took him all across Canada and the USA.

After he met his wife, Linda, in Alberta, Robin worked various occupations in the western oil fields. His favourite job was delivering oil rigs on extra long transport trucks while listening to Dean Martin. He became an ice trucker, and knew all the drivers on the Ice Truckers show, which he loved to watch. Later he worked as a dispatcher but, following an arm injury, became an Occupational Safety and Health Technology Technician. He had returned to truck driving when he passed.

Robin was a friendly guy, liked by all who met him. He was funny, relaxed, most generous, kind, and caring. Robin was close to and spent much of his time with his wife's children, Donna–Lee Stenhouse and Robbie Stenhous (Kristine), and her grandchildren Kiera Stenhouse, Kadin Stenhouse, Kalya Winters, Tyler Winters, and Robbie Stenhouse. They especially enjoyed camping together in the trailer.

A celebration of his life will be held on November 3 in Leduc, Alberta. Another is planned for the spring in Saint John.

Donations in his memory could be made to any SPCA.
