Obituary for Raymond Francis McIvor

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Raymond Francis McIvor of Saint John, NB on Wednesday, December 4th, 2019. Born in Saint John on March 13th, 1938, he was the son of the late William and Alena (Stackhouse) McIvor.

Raymond is survived by his four daughters; Patricia Caissie (Bernie) of Moncton, Carol McNair (David) of Saint John, Joanne Breau (Rheal) of Grand Barachois, and Beverley Szemerda (Daniel) of Saint John, three sons; Leo McIvor (Judy), Ron McIvor (Sharon), and Rick McIvor (Anne), all of Saint John, grandchildren Angela, Heather, Mike, Nicole, Stephanie, Andrea, Ethan, Ryan, Crystal, Ashley, Kim, and Alli; great–grandchildren Justin, Marissa, Kohen, Cobie, Zackery, Dakota, Dylan, Taylor, Ocean, Eli, Zay, and Jaxon, great–great–grandson Cole, step–great–grandchildren Lucas, Thomas, and Madyson, as well as brothers Edward, Malcolm, sister Judy, and several nieces, nephews, special niece Judy Ritchie, and special nephew Mike Jaillette.

Raymond is pre–deceased by his wife of 51 years, Alfreda McIvor, one daughter, Joanna Lena McIvor, and brothers John (“Jack”) McIvor, Ralph McIvor, and Robert McIvor.

Raymond was employed at Poly Cello Ltd., Saint John Shipbuilding, and then the City of Saint John, where he retired in 2002.

Raymond was a great husband, father, grandfather, and this year became a great–great–grandfather, a fifth generation of all boys. He loved to keep busy after he retired with his woodworking, gardening, ice fishing, watching hockey and cheering on his favourite Montreal Canadiens, and spending time at all his grandchildren’s sports. Raymond loved to dance, and could be found at either the 30 and up club, or the open mic with Felix and the gang on Sunday nights. His love, respect, and dedication to his family will not only live on in memories at Christmas, holidays, full house and family gatherings, but in our hearts forever.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646–2424) with visitation on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 10th at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice, the Joshua Group, or the SJRH Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family.
