Obituary for Fulton Greene

The Peaceful passing of Fulton Eugene Greene of Blissfield, NB, husband of Olga Mable (Gilks) Greene, occurred on January 13th at home. He was born in Doaktown NB, on July 19, 1928 and was the son of the late George O’Dell Greene and the late Mildred Meretta (Doak) Greene.

He was a member of the United Church and served on the Board of Stewards for many years. He was also a member of the St. John Ambulance and the Doaktown Legion. He was a licensed Ham Radio Operator (VE1ALY) and communicated with many other Ham Operators around the world using International Morse Code. He wrote a small book of memories called “The House On Green’s Turn”.

Fulton had a very sharp spontaneous sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He believed that this was one of the best short term favors that you could give to a person, because while you were laughing you would not have any worries, trouble or pain for that moment. He also loved to give people advice. He felt he had a lot of experience and knowledge to pass on to others.

He was very independent, full of energy, a hard worker and was busy all the time. He was very passionate about fixing and repairing anything and everything he could get his hands on. He worked as a NB Fishing Guide on the Miramichi River for many years and owned a plaque with pins for every year he guided. He opened a small convenient grocery store which he managed for many years and also sold gas for a period of time at the store. He worked at the Five and Ten Store in Doaktown for a while. He studied Electronics and opened a TV Sales and Service Shop and did all his own repair technician services. He built his own home, boat, gazebo, swing sets etc. by himself.

Fulton was very entertaining and enjoyed listening, taping, singing and dancing to music and played several instruments such as a guitar and violin. He took many pictures and usually had people in the picture holding up a sign with the date on it. He would show slides of some of these from his projector onto a screen. He had a variety of interests. He loved the outside and liked to go boating, fishing, and picking fiddleheads, hunting, gardening and other outdoor work. He always knew how to amuse himself and others. He played darts and had hours of fun building and flying radio controlled model airplanes. People would stop their cars to watch with amusement as he flew the planes. When he celebrated his 80th birthday, a cake was made for him with an airplane on it.

Most of all Fulton loved his family very much and was very possessive, protective and self sacrificing of them and made sure that they got everything that they needed. He was always entertaining them and took them on trips and vacations.

Fulton is survived by his wife, two daughters: Sonya (Paul) Melanson and Vanessa (Tim) MacLaggan, three grandchildren: Andrew (Cassandra) St. Louis, Jonathan (Melysa) Greene and Tanner Bamford and five great-grandchildren: Caleb, Quinn, Mable, Violet St Louis and Natalie Greene and several nieces, nephews and two sister-in-laws.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers: Floyd and Donald, one sister: Audrey Labrecque, two sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws, nephew Sherwin Ward and great nephew Anthony Goodfellow.

Burial arrangement will be held later in the spring with close family and friends at the burial site in Blissfield. Personal condolences may be offered through www.davidsonsfh.com Arrangements are in care of Davidson’s Funeral Service Ltd. (622-7464) or online at www.davidsonsfh.com
