Learning to Drive

Dad in his role as a teacher acted as a driving ed instructor for both myself and Ken. He actually let me drive the car to Seton Hall Prep on my permit, progressing from the side roads, to actually driving on Route 22. I think he developed more gray hair and lost a few more during that year. His favorite words we're easy, easy and stop, stop, stop. The point is he believed more in me at that time than I did in myself. He and I were trying to help Ken learn to parallel park between 2 cones.. The space was originally pretty large. As Ken would look back I would move the front cone closer. As he looked forward and moved the car forward dad would move the back cone closer. Ken was bewildered as to why the cones were getting knocked down and figured us out. We all got a good laugh. The main thing is that I have very special memories with those guys. I didn't realize he was a dad, teacher and what a darned good friend! , and we thought he was just showing us how to drive
