The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Reed Benson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Missionary work

Elder Walter Rowley and I served as missionary companions  in Northern Virginia in late 1960 and early 1961.  The Reed Benson family was living in the same area and ward that we were doing some of our missionary work in.  We were so very blessed to be able to teach and baptize new converts as a result of the great example of and sweet missionary work done by Reed and all of the family.  The Bensons were such great Christian examples and their  kindly open approach in their missionary work in Northern Virginia when we were serving in Alexandria, Falls Church, Arlington and other nearby places.  There were converts that we baptized into the Church in the College Park Maryland Ward chapel who had been taught by word and example of Reed and family and we are so grateful for the entire Reed Benson family for them blessing us and those who came into the Church as a result of their love, teachings and examples.

I will always keep in remembrance the choice times teaching in the Benson home and the missionary work with those who were the beneficiaries of the Reed Benson family.  I express my thanks to you who carry on this great example and work.
