Petting the Horses....

Speaking of gambling… I’d like to share with all of you a funny little story that happened only a few months ago….some of you have already heard this story, so I’ll give you the short redacted version…..

One day I decided that since Dad lived about 5 minutes away from a horse and riding stable he might want go see and pet the horses there. (we share a love of horses) -  I called and asked him if I could pick him up to go pet the horses.  He excitedly said, “Yes, let’s go!”

I had him in the car as we pulled up to the stables, and as I went to park the car… he looked around concerned and asked me……. “what are we doing here?”

I answered with excitement, “we’re here to pet the horses… remember?”

He looked at me like I was out of my mind, and questioningly asked, “Where is the betting????  And threw his hands up…

I said, “huh?”  but it now sinking in as to what he was referring to….

……For those of you that don’t get it….He thought I had initially asked him if he wanted to go “Bet the Horses” not “Pet the Horses”---- in the end we had a laugh over it but even still, no amount of coaxing would get him get out of the car…..he wasn’t having any part of it!  He ended up settling for a Starbucks and conversation instead.
