The news received on Sunday, March 18th about the loss of your Father, although expected, made me feel quite sad. My heart aches over the loss of your Father, but I feel honored and blessed to have known Lucian Seow aka Uncle Son. He was such a warm, generous, funny and charming man. It is really hard to think that we won’t see him again; but cherished memories are what we have to remember our dearly departed and Uncle Son's kind-hearted nature and good humor will be missed by everyone that was fortunate to know him.
Uncle Son had a wonderful way of making you feel special. He always had a smile on his face and took a simple approach to life. Many of my fondest childhood memories are from precious times spent with The Seow Family in Priory, Jamaica. Uncle Son was one of the finest men I have ever had the privilege of knowing, and I’m appreciative that I got to know him during his life. I learned quite a bit from him and will always be grateful for his patience and encouragement, especially during my impressionable years. His positive attitude despite his failing health made every visit a pleasure. He always had such great stories to tell, many exciting episodes, during his long life. There will never be anyone quite like Uncle Son and despite his living for over 90 years; I will never be able to fathom how difficult this loss is for all of you. He was truly a blessing in my life and I will always miss him.
Losing someone we love is never easy, but despite the loss of their physical presence, we know that God has assigned Uncle Son to watch over us. I am grateful to have known him and send you my deepest condolences. May the memories of his joyful spirit strengthen and surround you during this difficult time. I’ll call soon to see if there is anything I can do and leave you with something from Leo Buscaglia, “I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love”.
My most sincere condolences.
