The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of JOHN ANDERTON can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Long Hike along Lake Superior

When John was an undergraduate (during the 80s), he worked for a faculty member as a research assistant. For a project to identify Native American archeological sites, the professor dropped John off in Big Bay and instructed him to hike down the coast to Marquette, noting any interesting features that might suggest a possible site. John told me that he didn't have a clue of what to look for. He didn't find a thing but had a wonderful hike and earned a lot of money. I suspect that the experience stuck with John, because he would never have done something so irresponsible to one of his students.
